Kevin O'Hara, Professor of Silviculture, University of California- Berkeley

Kevin O'Hara is Professor of Silviculture at the University of California - Berkeley where he teaches field and classroom courses in forestry. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington and taught for 8 years at the University of Montana before joining the University of California faculty. He is the author of over 120 scientific papers and served on the editorial boards or as associate editor of the European Journal of Forest Research, Forestry, and the Journal of Forestry. His research focuses on a variety of aspects of forest stand dynamics and their application to silviculture. However, the bulk of his research focuses on multiaged stand dynamics and silviculture. He has published over 40 papers on the topic of multiaged silviculture and has served as the leader of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Uneven-aged Silviculture Research Group (IUFRO 1.05).

These Psalms - came alive !!

This book gives a glimpse of very important Psalms. It is organized so beautifully. Reflections and prayers on different verses, uplift eternal truths. New insights come to stay within the mind and heart as Dr. Laycock shares warm illustrations from everyday life. This is also great for a group to share because we all have unique experiences.--and have the Pslams explained as perfect guidance.

About the Author
Rhetta Akamatsu lives in Marietta, Ga with her husband. She has previously written about ghosts and blues music. Her heritage is partly Irish, and it is possible that at least one ancestor was an indentured servant in the 1600's. Her interest in justice and human rights covers all people anywhere.

A critical story that needs to be read

This book tells how in the 1600 and 1700s the English made slaves of the Irish and shipped them in coffin ships to the Islands and the new American colony. These Irish had been disenfranchised of the lands and prevented from holding paid employment or educating their children and of course; practising their Catholic religion. The extreme racism of the British boarders on genocide and left me feeling really angry and awake!

As an Irish descendent I found this story riveting but the writing poor. There are many repetitions, the story jumps around rather than follow an historical time line. The referencing is poor which makes trust in the truth a little challenging.

Very emotional read

I am only a third of way through the book and I am emotionally drained. Much different picture of what happened then what we learned in social studies. I have been on the verge of crying a few times.

Just to let you know, I think this book was self published and I have found few misprints. I am not talking about the historical documents, but the narrative of author has a few mistakes (or the editor was sloppy).

Enjoying the book a lot, please get in on Kindle!

Do not waste your $$

Purchased hoping for more history on my Irish-slave ancestors. It reads like a seventh-grade research report (of which I have read many!). Repetitive & out-of-chronological order. Many typographical errors, no page numbers, & a non-alphabetical bibliography! It adds very few additional facts that are not available free online or in other books. "Diary of an Irish Slave Girl" (tho fiction) & "Hell or Barbados" are much better done.
