Great workbook

We are native English speakers learning the Bengali language and have had a very difficult time finding comprehensive resources to learn. Rosetta Stone doesn't even have Bengali! This workbook is sufficient. It uses the Bengali script, which is great, but it does not teach it. If you don't know the script prior to using this workbook, then you will have a hard time! It does use more of the formal words than the colloquial, but those are good to know too. Very helpful and worth the cost.

Keep The Lights On!

"Grave Situation" by Alex MacLean is the perfect book to read if you're looking for a book that makes you think. Allan is trying to solve a string of cases that bring him to the very abyss of sanity himself. I found myself flipping back several times to see if a clue I thought I'd picked up on made sense in an earlier scene. I was drawn into the story to the point that I wanted to jump in and help solve the cases.

MacLean has a knack for getting into the actual heads of each of the characters. He fleshes out the characters' backstories so well that even though I was appalled at some of their actions, a part of me came to understand what compelled them to behave as they did. I'm almost ashamed to say that a very tiny part of me even empathized with some of the more unappealing characters. This I can only attribute to the author's expertise in humanizing the thoughts and feelings of his characters.

MacLean also has the gift of painting a scene so vividly, that if I didn't know better, I would feel that I was actually in the scene as a silent observer. He has a talent for using the exact words necessary to convey the nuances, feels, and smells of what's going on in each chapter.

Overall, this is a fantastic crime thriller. It is the kind of book that you can't put down until you find out what happens next. If you do put it down, you can't wait to get back to it. I found myself thinking about the characters and their outcomes well after I finished the book. I look forward to reading more by this intriguing author. But be warned, it will have you looking over your shoulder. When reading "Grave Situation" here's a word to the wise...keep the lights on.

The energy an effort that the author spent on this novel is immediately evident. There is great time spent making sure that details are accurate; however, I have to be honest. I couldn't finish it. For me, it was overly graphic and I question why. I am recommending this book for those who are not queasy readers and who love a good mystery/thriller. It just wasn't my style.

A Hell That's Impossible to Resist

Grave Situation by Alex MacLean is a dark, depressing, and somber - but ultimately gripping - ride through the hellish realities of police work and the ways in which it can tear a person inside and out.

This is the first book I've read about Canadian police officers, but as it turns out, crime is the same everywhere: Ugly.

The protagonist, Allan, has nothing left except for the job. His wife left him and relocated, and he never gets to spend any time with his young child, who is now living in another province with his mother.

The author takes great care in fully fleshing out all of the characters - physically, mentally, emotionally, and especially psychologically - and the overall story is all the richer as a result.

MacLean's novel is certainly not a light or easy read. My heart thumped often. But I completed it in two tense sittings.

Accurate transcriptions of one of rocks greatest albums

I primarily bought this book to learn "Ladies Night In Buffalo" and "Bump and Grind" but it's awesome to have transcriptions of "Shy Boy", "Tobacco Road", etc. It would have been nice to have some images interspersed throughout or some gear suggestions, but its also good that this book is "all business"!

This book contains very accurate transcriptions of some of Steve Vai's best performances and David Lee Roth's greatest songs!

Grade 5 Up-Anyone who has been touched by Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl will be moved by this account that opens on the day Anne received the journal for her 13th birthday. The color photo of the diary set opposite the text lends immediacy and a sense of reality to the commentary. The feelings are reinforced throughout by the authors' prodigious research and the accumulation of details through the photographs. Some of the pictures included have never been published before, and their lengthy captions describe not only who is in the photos, but also the circumstances under which they were taken. Framed pages expand on the political and economical situations of the time. The well-written main narrative, which uses aptly chosen quotations from the diary, takes readers from Anne's normal, happy childhood through the years in the Secret Annex to the betrayal and Anne's death from typhus in Bergen-Belsen just months before her 16th birthday and only weeks before the liberation of the camp. For readers the loss is double. One feels the personal loss of a bright, fun-loving, and talented individual who might have made a difference in the world and also remembers that many Anne Franks died during that nightmarish period.

The individual photos of Anne's early life are generally unexceptional, mostly snapshots, a bit blurry at times, like any family album; that's why they bear witness to the way genocide destroyed people like you and me. At the same time, the book puts Anne Frank's story in a historical context. The handsome design, with well-captioned photographs and short essays in spacious type, will hold browsers as well as those who want to read the book through. Excerpts from Anne's diaries are combined with an account of the two years in the Secret Annex (from the time of going into hiding until the betrayal, arrest, and deportation) and also with a general history and photographs of the rise of Nazism and the fate of the Jews. Several large, clear maps also tell the story, including where Anne Frank lived (from Germany to Holland to the Secret Annex to Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen). All libraries will want this: for classroom units studying the Holocaust, for kids reading the diary, for everyone who remembers it. Compliments The Diary of Anne Frank

This book is a great addition to The Diary of Anne Frank. The book begins before the diary would start with photographs of Anne and her family and details about their life together. These photographs really help to know more about Anne's life besides the details that she provides in her own diary. In addition to Anne's life, the book also discusses other members who lived in the Secret Annex, their photographs, and what happened to them. There is a diagram of the Secret Annex that helps put the living situation into perspective.

I have taught the Holocaust in a high school classroom and have found this book to be a great visual for adolescent learners, but it is also appropriate for younger readers as well as a more introductory look at the Holocaust. It is definitely a valuable resource whether you are teaching the Holocaust in a classroom or simply reading The Diary of Anne Frank on your own or with your children.

This was a very good book. It had lots of pictures and maps of her life and what she saw. I haven't read Anne Franks diary since in grade school and wanted to reread the story. This is very important book and look in the life of a girl who went through such a horrific time. I bought this for my children to someday read.

Georgia based artist, Katy Lipscomb, has had a passion for drawing since she was a little girl. Now in her early twenties, she has turned that passion into a thriving career through the use of social media. Katy has been taken part in a number of collaborations with companies such as ModifyWatches and Patreon. She has also been interviewed by NPR for innovative use of the popular smartphone app, Vine. A beautiful quality colouring book

Finally, a publisher has been listening to what colourists want in a books structure. This book is part of Blue Star Publishings ‘Master Collection’- a series of high quality colouring books for adults.

‘Howl’ is immediately impressive, with a stark white cover, and a watercolour image of wolves on the soft card cover.

At 27.9 x 21.7cm ( 10.9 x 8.5 inches) and 96 pages, it is a reasonably standard size for home or travel. The spine is both glue and string bound – it is very firm and takes quite a lot to get it to lay flat. None of the images enter the spine however!

The paper is closer to card than paper. It is bright white, lightly textured and quite thick. Waterbased markers do not bleed, and I was able to achieve quite a lot of layers with pencils. Images are single sided, so no need to worry about the reverse

The images in this book are wolves drawn and styled in a fantasy theme. There are wolves swirling in a circle, wolves standing proud, scenery of wolves surveying their surroundings, wolves that merge into another. The range of images is quite remarkable, and each turn of the page reveals a new image you wouldn’t have thought of!

Beyond the fantastic artwork, this book also has some other wonderful features. Beginning at the start of the book with a ‘tips from the artist’ page, every few pages throughout contains a quote chosen by the artist and a double page full colour print of the artists work. This is great for colour inspiration, or simply to admire the wonderful completed artwork.

Linework throughout remains moderate, which suits the theme quite well.

The images are not very intricate, and remain so throughout, although the style is such that you can colour it section by section or as a whole.

Health

For those who are fans of animal and nature themed books, this would be a great choice for days when you are feeling down – the imagery is cheerful and quite open ended so you can stick to realistic colours or colour wolves purple and green if you want!

The images would suit those with varying concentration levels – the style is adaptable so for days when you can’t concentrate, it’s easy enough to colour a section while you can concentrate, or the whole image on a better day.

Intricacy is most likely suitable for those with fine motor skills impairments, but please do check the images before deciding. Line thickness would be suitable for those with vision impairments, but please do check the images.

This book was everything it was supposed to be and more! I'm on my boyfriends Amazon account, but I've talked with the artist and she's been very helpful on more than one occasion. High quality

This book is so gorgeous and it's has a lot more than just pages to color. The paper is thick and the book itself has a very nice texture. In the book are various, spread out pages with quotes and there's a few pages when they're colored prints. As soon as I opened the book, I was surprised with a very blue, astrological picture that took up two pages.

I believe it's definitely worth the price.
There's also many coloring tips within the book which I think I might try some.

About the Author
Francine Rivers began her literary career at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and journalism. From 1976 to 1985, she had a successful writing career in the general market, and her books were highly acclaimed by readers and reviewers. Although raised in a religious home, Francine did not truly encounter Christ until later in life, when she was already a wife, a mother of three, and an established romance novelist.

Couldn't stop reading!

Francine Rivers has been in my head walking around and taking notes. That is how much I saw myself in the character of Hadassah! Her descriptions pulled me in even more and didn't overwhelm me with too many words. Ms. Rivers knew the balance. She knew when to give lots of descriptive detail and when to pull back and let your imagination go wild! I could see the sights, and smell the smells and I had these pictures in my mind and it was so vivid to me. It made me evaluate myself and my walk with the Lord. This series made me re-evaluate some things and look at some things in me that I needed to fix. It made me also not beat up on myself when I try and tell someone about the Lord and they don't hear me. It made me remember that Paul said that "I planted, Apollos watered, and God gave the increase!" I couldn't put this book down. I stayed up to the wee hours of the night reading it. When I finished I was so angry, I ordered the other two books. We are in a book club and we were just supposed to read the first book but I have finished all three!!!!! I know I have to improve because, I wasn't like Hadassah. I didn't want to pray for Julia. I wanted her tortured and killed! I wanted her to die a painful death, B U T G O D !!! He always has a plan. We just have to yield to it and let him have His PERFECT work in not just Our lives but the lives of the people we pray for! Thank you Ms. Rivers for a profound reading! I loved it!

A Thought Provoking Read

Definitely a thought provoking read. Set in the Roman era during the persecution of the early church by Nero this is the story of a young slave girl Hadassah who struggles with her faith. After being sold to a Roman family, she serves their daughter Julia, a selfish, lustful 14 year old. As I read this book, I was engrossed in Hadassah's struggles with her faith, love for God, and courage to stand strong.

Francine Rivers writes of the lust of women and men, the quest for money and power, and brutality that humans have inflicted on each other in pursuit of the same. Because of the detailed descriptions of some scenes during the Roman games and touching on subjects of abortion and homosexuality, be forewarned. (Review by M. Struse)

The First Book of a Captivating Trilogy by Francine Rivers

Experiencing this incredibly wonderful book by Francine Rivers, was life-changing. Each character is drawn with such pixel-perfect precision, that I saw them rising up off the pages. In Getting to know Hadassah, the pivotal character, I got to know myself better. My belief in God and his Son, my Savior Jesus Christ, was substantially deepened, and my Faith was strengthened.

The more vulnerable you allow yourself to be while thoughtfully reading this book, the spiritual growth you might attain will bring a sweet humility, and the desire to forgive others, as well as youself.

I have the Trilogy on my library shelves, as well as this first book on my Amazon Kindle. I am re-reading it for the 8th time.
